About the convention
The Tanzania Annual Research Convention (TARC), in partnership with COSTECH, is an annual week-long event that brings together universities and higher learning institutions, research institutes that belong to Ministries like TARI, TAFIRI, and others, as well as private organizations including REPOA and ESRF.
There are many researches that are being conducted almost always in Tanzania. These researches are designed to address socio-economic challenges facing Tanzania, and if put to use, they would really bring changes.
One of the predicaments facing many researchers and research institutions is the financial resource for dissemination of the findings. Apart from this, most researches end up in shelves due to the same factor. Thus, we continue to produce great studies which, instead of coming out to solve the issues the societies face, are locked up. At times, we hear of other countries implementing what originally came from Tanzania.
These researches are generated from our higher learning institutions, public research institutes, private research institutes, as well as from individual researchers.

TARC also brings individual researchers to present their research findings. Researches are received in categories of Health and Nutrition, Investment and Economy, Engineering, Technology and Innovation, Clean Energy, as well as Agriculture and Fishing.
Institutions pick their best researches, and together with those from individuals and private research institutes, they go through a team of juries to select the top researches for the annual convention.
Why should institutions participate / finance TARC?
Dissemination modalities (The Program)
This will be achieved through exposure that aims at offering opportunities to work with experienced researchers in various fields. The more the researchers, the more TARC will grow and thrive with content that aims at addressing societal issues.
We shall collaborate closely with the UN Agencies as they are the country’s main development partners whose conduct is research-driven. We shall collaborate with embassies and the private sector in financing TARC.
The TARC will also have a training component for young researchers, whose cost will marginally contribute to the publication of the Annual TARC journal.
We shall seek external funding but also, through collaborations with the Government of Tanzania, through commissioned researches, we shall sustainably take TARC forward.
We look forward to and welcome all potential research organizations and partners for a joint collaboration to make TARC a great success in addressing current challenges for this and generations to come.
